For church leaders in Eritrea, following Jesus carries a constant risk of being pressured, arrested and thrown in jail. The prison system in Eritrea is expansive and brutal, and Christians can be shut up for years in shocking conditions.
Two of our brothers in Eritrea are in the midst of this ordeal, and Christians in Eritrea have requested urgent prayer.
In the middle of the night, authorities arrested two elderly pastors, Pastor Ghirmay (75) and Pastor Samuel (74). The men were taken to an unknown location.
Police also tried to arrest Pastor Georgio (72) but when they arrived at his home they found him sick in bed. They placed him under house arrest until he is well enough to be taken into custody.
Georgio served five years in a prison camp and other prisons, and was released 7 years ago. The prospect of returning to the conditions of prison at his age is heartbreaking.
These pastors and their families are depending on our prayers of support.
Please ask the Lord to strengthen and give these pastors courage as they face uncertainties and possible interogation.
Pray the pastors are swiftly cleared and released to return to their families.
Pray God will bring the Church together to support the Pastor's families and provide for their needs at this time.
Ask that the Lord continue to build His church in Eritrea amid these difficult circumstances, and that He will be glorified in the lives of these pastors and the other believers.
Thank you so much for praying for our persecuted family, May God bless you for your faithfulness. from a text alert from Open Doors USA.
