Egypt's Coptic Community has been shaken by a series of attacks that have left at least three men dead. Coptic Christians are one of the most ancient Christian communities in the world, but they have survived and even thrived through many generations of persecution. Let's stand with them in this hour, honouring the rich legacy that has held firm through so much crisis.
Last week, we showed you a video of a funeral in Egypt. Kirollos Nagar Megali, father of 2, was brutally attacked with a machete, and his believing community is grieving over this heartbreaking loss. His attacker was an Islamic extremist named Abdullah Hosni who was eventually arrested and detained. He is now claiming insanity to avoid prosecution, but according to Megali's brother, he is mentally fit enough to travel to work in Libya.
We also told you about the beloved Coptic priest and youth leader, Arsanius Wadeed, 56, who was stabbed while walking with his youth group on a seaside promenade in Alexandria on April 7. His attacker has been given the death sentence.
In May, Rani Ra'fat, a Coptic Christian from al-Daba in northwest Egypt was killed outside his workshop. His body was riddled with 22 bullets. The attackers escaped, but a man calling himself Faisal Abdul Nasser posted a video on TikTok claiming he killed Ra'fat out of loyalty to Allah.
"I am delighted that I killed him on behalf of Muhammad's uma (the Muslim world)" he said. He accused Ra'fat of being a 'polytheist' and 'profanes our women' as reported by Coptic Solidarity. "I am zealous over and sacrafice for Islam" He said he had 'no problem surrendering' himself to the police. Unfortunately no arrest has been made. Let's continue to pray for justice to prevail.
Each attack emboldens those who desire to see Christians suffer. Join with the Coptic community in Egypt and fight back with prayer for our brothers and sisters
Father, we lift up the grieving friends and families of those who have been martyred for their faith, but we also commit to You the hearts of those who have done these things. Your Holy Spirit has the power to bring about miraculous change in them and blunt their desire to attack. We ask that you remove their hatred and cause them to drop their weapons in surrender to You. Continue to surround Coptic believers with Your loving presence. Let their light grow stronger amid the darkness.
Thanks so much for praying, Yah bless you. Taken from Open Doors USA text alert.
