Awad Allah, a believer living in muslim-dominated Egypt, was careful to teach his son Thomas the ways of Jesus amid a culture that hated their faith. He taught him to show love toward his neighbours, even the ones known to hate Christians. So when Rahman Farghaly, a Muslim who lived across the road, asked Thomas to buy medication because he was ill, Thomas went willingly.
But the moment he entered the apartment, Farghaly reached out to stab him. Thomas escaped to the balcony and locked the door behind him, crying out for help. His father heard his screams and rushed to help. When he forced his way in, Awad was met by Farghaly , who stabbed him multiple times shouting, "O Kaffirs (infidels) - Alahu Akbar."
Awad saved his son but had to be taken to the hospital in critical condition.
A local source said,"Rahman Farghaly owns a chicken shop where he plays koran recitations through loudspeakers. He has been known for mistreating and insulting Christians, and they generally try to avoid him."
Praise God that Awad is out of the hospital and recovering at home, but Thomas was traumatized by the event and has trouble sleeping. Meanwhile, Farghly was arrested on charges of attempted murder but is claiming he is mentally ill. This is a common tactic used by those who attack Christians, to avoid sentencing.
Father, thank you that Thomas is safe and Awad is recovering! Thank you for protecting their lives in this dangerous situation. Help Thomas recover from the trauma and continue to be strong in his faith. Help the judge see through the ploy of claiming mental illness and let justice prevail in this case.
