Imagine you are a former Muslim and are now a pastor in an area of East Africa that is 92% Muslim - and your life is in constant danger from extremists! That's exactly how you would describe Pastor Salim's situation, which is why it's critical we hold him in prayer as a member of our family. "By the grace of God, nothing has happened to me," he says, "though I receive insulting messages and threats like, 'We are going to burn the church! We are goi ng to destroy you! We are going to kill you! We know all your moves! We know what your doing!"
He has a young family, and his wife is in constant anxiety, calling him throughout the day to check on him as he spreads God's Word. "There is that trauma she is facing because of my ministry and because of what I am doing," he shares.
Please take a moment and ask God for continued protection over Pastor Salim and his family. Let's ask for peace for his wife and for greater trust in God's faithfulness. Let's stand with them in the solidarity of our shared faith.
"Most Muslims don't understand about religion," he says. "They just follow the sheikhs, imans and religious leaders. They are just lost; they are just following blindly."
Because of this, Pastor Salim has developed creative strategies for reaching people and discipling new believers. "For women, we use other women in the church to reach them," he says, "so that they will be discipled without exposing their faith."
He even manages to disciple believers who can't come to church because its too dangerous. For instance, there's one young brother who he encourages often. Instead of meeting at a church, Salim goes on long bike rides with the young man who has a bike riding business. "We just ride together and then I share the love of Christ," he says. And on those bike rides, they also get down to the business of evangelism, spreading the message of Jesus whereever they go.
Will you please pray with Pastor Salim that his ministry would bear even more fruit? Ask God to give him more creative ways to disciple others.
Thanks so much for praying, Elohim bless you. Taken from Open Doors USA text alert.
