"We were chatting with some friends outside when we heard gunshots, and everyone fled in a different direction. It was total panic," said Otomabere resident Kimwenza Malembe to Al Jazeera. The shots signaled an attack by suspected members of the Allied Democratic Forces, in Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) . As violence surges in the DRC, we urge you to pray with us for our family who is caught in the crossfire.
Some sources said up to 20 people died, but field sources at Open Doors tell us the total was at least 25, mostly Christians. The attackers wet fire to about 30 homes. Among the victims were members of the Catholic, CHRISCO, CENEV and CECA20 churches.
Just a week before, the same radical group attacked the town of Bulongo. They killed 15 civilians, of whom at least 12 were Christians. Five people were injured, and at least 3 kidnapped.
Even though the government declared a state of siege to clamp down on rebels, it is nearly impossible for people who mostly practice subsistence farming to live their lives. There is no certainty that an attack won't begin at any moment, bringing grief and tragedy to entire communities.
Open Doors is seeking ways to reach and minister to the increasing number of Christians affected by this brutality. Pray with the people of DRC for an end to the violence.
Father, please send Your abundant grace to our family in eastern DRC. Work in the midst of these circumstances, strengthening and providing for Your children. Draw those who do not know You into a closer relationship with You. Give divine wisdom to those who minister to victims. We declare government breakthroughs in ending this terrorist tyranny! Most of all, bring peace amid it all, and give glory to Your Name.
Thanks so much for praying, Elohim bless you. Taken from Open Doors USA text alert.
I also would like to ask anyone who agrees to please pray with me for the catholic community in DRC and many other countries to wake up especially those who are persecuted. My nanna was a catholic so I have been to mass a few times but I know now it is wrong. For a start they call the pope holy father when the Bible says call no one on earth father for your father is One who is in heaven. Also they practice Mary worship and idol worship and even pray to dead saints, when the Bible clearly says we pray to Elohim in Yahshua's Name. This current pope is so out of order, I have been keeping an eye on him, as I am sure many of us are in these End Times with the prophecy of the revived roman empire. He told a child whose father was an athiest who died that his father was in heaven. He has a agreement for peace and mutual understanding or something with a muslim leader. He had native american pagans to his vatican in Rome doing pagan rituals. He said it is ok for homosexuals to marry although I think he said they should not be married in church but civil weddings. And also the numerous incidences of child abuse in the catholic church. By the way, I hope no catholics read this and get offended as that is definetely not my intention. I am only interested in exposing the evil at the top of the hierarchy and I know there are many good catholics and we should pray for all of them to wake up and get out of catholism fast. Thanks for praying in Jesus Name amen
