Summer camp should be a carefree time of fun, games, crafts and laughter. But in Central Asia, it's more and more difficult to organise Christian summer camps, due to close government oversight of religious events. In some countries in the region, workers are not allowed to share the gospel with young people under the age of 18.
And yet the camps go on - though perhaps more quietly. And they change the lives not only of campers, but the adults who serve at them as well.
"I realised that each of us is a small tool through which God does great things," one camp worker says. "I saw that God was really working tirelessly in the needy heart of every person during this camp. I used to think we were only there to serve, and to help others to be saved, to find hope, and to trust in God. Now I realise it is necessary for us to be changed by God's love first, in order to give love to other people. God is doing that."
Please pray for safe summer camps, and that local authorities will not find out about them and shut them down.
Ask God to bless the children and youth with a time of innocence, rest, joy and God's love during their time at camp. Many live with daily pressure due to their faith and that of their persecuted Christian parents.
Thank God for the great impact Open Doors partners are able to have on young people through these camps.
Thanks so much for praying for our persecuted brethren like the Bible tells us to in Hebrews 13.3 and other verses. From a text alert sent by Open Doors USA.
