Imagine living in a place so violent there are no more Christians to be found.
That's what believers in Burkina Faso are facing.
More than one million people have been displaced within the country, 200,000 of them just in the first 3 months of 2021. Almost two thirds of them are children, many of whom have witnessed horror and violence beyond measure in their young lives.
Christians have been greatly affected by the violence, as they have often found themselves to be the preffered targets of the Islamic militants who continue to destabilize the country.
Pastor Michael, President of the General Council of the Assemblies of God in Burkina Faso, recently told Open Doors: "Many villages do not have Christians anymore - they have fled. These militants slay and behead without pity. The north is full of empty churches now."
But thanks to your support, 49 displaced Christian children have been able to receive food and education, despite their displacement. Thirteen of them sucessfully finished primary school - a real victory. The rest are defying their persecutors and will continue their education, working to overcome the gap in their schooling.
Your prayers and support are not only keeping these children fed and educated - you are also helping build a foundation of faith for the future of Christianity in Burkina Faso.
Please pray for the Lord to be the defender of the believers in Burkina Faso, watching over and protecting them.
Ask that God fulfill His Word that He is building His church, and the gates of hell will not prevail against it, even in Burkina Faso (Matthew 16.18)
Pray for Burkina Faso to become a shining beacon of hope in sub-Saharan Africa in the face of persecution as Christians stand against what their enemies try to do to them.
Thank you so much for praying, God bless. From a text alert from Open Doors USA please visit their webpage for more info and for ways to pray and support further.
