Shanti and her family had been to every place of worship and spent all their money trying to find a cure for Shanti,
Then they went to church.
"To my disbelief, I sensed my health improving and continued to attend the church and prayed. My health was restored and I was healthy without spending any resources!" Shanti said. The healing paved the way for the whole family to come to Christ.
Though the family found joy and peace in Christ, they soon faced opposition. Their relatives cut all ties with them, hoping the family would return to their Hindu faith, but they refused.
Shanti says : "It was Christ who healed me, on whom I haven't spent any money - all He wanted was my heart. I and my family can never leave Christ for the mere pressures of humans."
The family moved to another village, and Shanti son, Sanjiv began sharing their testimony there. Many came to know Christ, which enraged local Hindu extremists. They grabbed Sanjiv, beat him severely, and later had the family taken to the police station on charges of forcefully converting villagers. While imprisoned, the police officers beat them even more.
Despite everything they have been through, they have never thought of denying Christ. Shanti says: "Christ Himself was rejected by His own; what are we?"
Open Doors local partners helped Sanjiv with assistance for the surgery on his broken nose and supplied the family with groceries. Sanjiv's sister attended a cottage industry workshop and plans to start a business.
He says: "Your help stands as a sign that we are on the right path to God and we are not alone in our struggles and our pains. When we are faithful to God through serving even though the world despises us, His people stand to encourage and bridge the gap that opposition brings. Thank you for your presence and support."
Please lift this sweet family to God as they continue to persevere in the face of opposition.
Pray for God's protection in their new village, and that they will be able to share their testimony whereever they go.
Pray for others like Shanti and her family who are excluded and isolated for their faith.
Thank God for the local partners who were able to come alongside the family and supply so many needs, both urgent and longterm. Ask Him to bless their efforts as they reach out to others in the same way.
Thanks so much for praying, God bless. Taken from an Open Doors USA text alert.
