A few months ago, we told you of the story of Shamim, one of our ministry partners in Bangladesh. Shamim is a literacy teacher and a Christian. His cousins attacked him, sending him to the hospital. The attack came amid tension over a land dispute, aggravated by Shamim's Christian witness and generosity toward the people of their village - he gave food to others who were in need.
Over the past months, fellow Open Doors partners encouraged Shamim and supported him with his hospital bills. Shamim sent a message to all of those who have helped him and prayed for him - people like you! Here is a translation of his message:
"I am not completely recovered yet. The area where my bone was sliced still hurts.
"My only petition and prayer to the Lord for those who tried to harm me is that they will come to this path where I am now - follow Jesus and become good people. may Isa Masih (Jesus Christ) bring them to this path. Those who tried to kill me, those who hurt me with the machete - I forgive them and I pray for them. I have learned from the Bible to pray that they get salvation. May Isa Masih forgive them. I will follow Jesus Christ forever, as long as I have breath and blood in me. Until death I will follow this path."
"When I was assaulted, Open Doors partners in Bangladesh were with me, paid hospital bills and the whole world prayed for my recovery. I thank them for all their prayers for me. Pray more and more for me so that I would be able to recover fully. Emmanuel!"
Please continue to pray with Shamim as he heals from his injuries.
Thank God Shamim's injuries did not lead to permanent disability or even death. Pray for his complete healing.
Pray for Shamim as he continues to grow in Christ. His traumatic ordeal has not turned him away from the Lord, but made him even bolder.
Ask God to turn the hearts of those who attacked Shamim. Pray for their salvation as they watch his godly reaction to what they did.
Thanks so much for praying, God bless. Taken from Open Doors USA text alert.
