When Monika met her husband Pronto Das, it was love at first sight. They got married almost immediately, and were happy in their life together. But everything changed when Monika decided to follow Jesus.
When Prosanto learned of Monika's Christian faith he left her. They had been married for 10 years. In leaving he abandoned not just Monika, but their 3 daughters, Sagorika (9), Lotika (4) and Oshika (18 months).
Prosanto's departure left Monika and her children with no income. Monika would sometimes go for days without eating. She and her daughters became beggars on the streets in her village, getting by on whatever they received.
Fortunately, local Open Doors partners heard of Monika's plight ande quickly sent food aid to her and her family, continuing the aid during the pandemic crisis. This solved the immediate problem, but not the long-tern situation of financial stability.
Thanks to generous Open Doors partners, Monika also received a sewing machine to start a home-based business that would enable her to tak care of her children for years to come. "I am very thankful to you for your kindness and generosity," she says. "I hope I will be able to earn money for my kids."
The family is staying with Monika's parents until she is back on her feet.
Please pray with Monika as she navigates this difficult time.
Thank God for saving Monika, and pray that her faith and example will have a life-changing impact on her children and the rest of her family.
Pray for the success of Monika's sewing business, that customers would come to her and that she will be financially indepentant. Pray God blesses the partners who have blessed her in this special way.
Ask God to be the Husband and Father the family no longer has, that He will hold them gently in His hands and grow Monika's faith.
Thanks so much for praying, God bless. From an Open Doors USA text alert.
