You've been praying for our brothers and sisters in India for years. Sometimes, persecution in India is indirect and isolated to rural regions. But other times it's out in the open even in huge cities - and the message is clear - Christians are not wanted in India.
A common accusation is that Christians are paying Hindu's to convert, or somehow pressuring them into following Jesus. Local Open Doors partners have witnessed Christians being physically assalted in the streets and places of worship. When confronted and accused of being lured into Christianity, the believers say they came to Christ of their own free will, and they're ready to die for their Lord.
Extremist groups are holding huge, anti-Christian rallies in India. Slogans such as - stop conversion and - we won.t tolerate conversion anymore are prominent.
Guest speakers at the rally said that people are being forced or enticed to change their religion and the police have taken no action. "If the police will not do their duty, we will," said the main speaker. "If anyone is caught carrying out conversions they will be dragged out of the house and beaten naked on the streets and severely punished."
Our local partners say the believers in this region are gripped by fear. A false accusation could lead to violence against believers at any point.
Please pray with our brothers and sisters in India - pray that God fill them with His perfect love which casts out all fear and makes them so much like Christ they can forgive their enemies.
Ask God to stop the rallies and bring back a less threatening environment for the Christians in India.
Pray for those who have converted, that they will have the courage to stay true to their faith in the face of confrontation by radicals.
Pray that a wind of conversion will sweep India as people there see the strength of the belief of those who follow Jesus.
Thanks so much for praying, God bless. Taken from an Open Doors USA text alert.
