The head-to-toe burqas are back. The men with rifles have become permanent fixtures in the street. And Afghanistan begins its descent into silence, as international attention starts to dwindle almost a month after the Taliban regained power.
Saad and Fatima two of the few, secret believers in Afghanistan, have chosen to stay. They're used to the dangers of living for Jesus, even before the Taliban returned, but now they plead for the church around the world to intercede: "if you love us - if you love Jesus - pray for us."
Saad reports that a list of Christians has been circulated. "It has our names on it," he says. "Since the takeover, Taliban house visits have become a regular occurrence. Some of us have been killed. Some have been kidnapped, some have dissapeared. It feels like the morning after a massive, cataclysmic explosion."
Please answer the cry of your spiritual family in Afghanistan and join them in bringing their plight to the throne of God.
Pray with Saad, Fatima and their family, who are at risk of arrest and worse. Pray also for the Christians who have already disapeared. Ask God to spread His protection over them and make them invisible to searchers.
Pray for God to have mercy and provide food for Afghanistan as winter approaches. The World Food Programm recently reported that 93per cent of AFgahni people have not been getting enough food to eat.
PRay God turns the hearts of those who rule Afghanistan as they move to reinstart harsh shariah law, including stoning, amputation and lashing.
Thanks so much for praying, God bless. Taken from an Open Doors USA text alert. Please pray also for our brethren in Afghanistan to have wisdom and guidance, courage and strength to know when it is ok to hide their faith and when they must not deny it. I ask this because it says in the Bible that if we deny Jesus He will deny us before the angels and His Father.
