We have brought you stories of difficulties throughout Central Asia in light of the COVID-19 pandemic - and unfortunately, it doesn't seem to be getting any better. And now our brothers and sisters in Turkmenistan are asking for your prayers.
One local contact from Turkmenistan shares: "We now have another wave of the pandemic. Many people are sick, even after having a second vaccination. This new wave brought many deaths. All the hospitals are full of sick people. People are waiting outside for many hours for their turn to be accepted into the hospital when an empty bed appears."
The pandemic has completely disrupted the economy and normal life. "The situation in our country is so awful," our contact says. "Some villages are totally closed and people can't go in or out. Some people from our neighbourhood died, even after being vaccinated. The situation with food is still bad. the queues for bread every morning are so large, and at 8 o clock already everything is totally gone. There is no meat in some shops. the shelves in the shops are full of drinks."
Local partners are doing all they can to meet needs. "We organised a prayer chain for our country and for those who are now sick from the virus," says one local partner. "Please pray for the situation in Turkmenistan, as it is becoming worse. Please pray that we can help families who really need support in this difficult time, and can deliver what they need, including medicine.
Please pray with the people of Turkmenistan as they struggle to survive.
Thank God for local partners who are still doing all they can in order to bring compassion and needed supplies who need them so desperately.
Pray for believers in Turkmenistan, who must grapple with COVID-19 in addition to the day-to-day struggle of following Jesus in their country.
Pray for an end to this virus around the world, so that countries like Turkmenistan can get back on their feet once again, and life can return to normal.
Ask God to have mercy on those who are going without so much right now. Ask Him to raise up the believers to bring hope and help to all they can
Thanks for praying, God bless. Taken from Open Doors USA text alert.
