Let us come together in the name of Jesus Christ to pray for this situation as requested. We begin by thanking God for His unfailing love and faithfulness.
Beloved, let us remind ourselves that God's design for relationships is holy and sacred. We are instructed in Ephesians 5:25, Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the assembly, and gave himself up for it. This is the kind of love we should pray for in this relationship, a love that is selfless and sacrificial, reflecting the love of Christ for His church. Let us pray that this young man will indeed love your daughter as Christ loved the church, putting her needs above his own.
We also pray that he will lay aside his ego, as Peter tells us in 1 Peter 5:5, Likewise, you younger ones be subject to the elder. Yes, all of you gird yourselves with humility, to subject yourselves to one another; for God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble. Humility is a virtue that God honors, and we pray that this will be evident in their relationship.
We stand firmly on the promise of 2 Corinthians 6:14, Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with iniquity? And what communion has light with darkness? We pray that both your daughter and her boyfriend are believers in Jesus Christ and that their relationship will be centered on their shared faith. If not, we pray that both will come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. It is only through Him that we have access to God the Father. Let us remember the words of John 14:6, Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.
We also pray against any spiritual warfare that may be affecting their relationship. As it says in Galatians 3:1, O foolish Galatians, who did bewitch you, before whose eyes Jesus Christ was openly set forth crucified? We cancel any witchcraft or curses in the name of Jesus, for He has given us authority in Luke 10:19, Behold, I give you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy. Nothing shall in any way hurt you.
Lastly, let us pray for their relationship to honor God in every way. That means we pray for their purity, that they will avoid the temptation of sexual immorality as defined in the Bible. We are told in 1 Corinthians 6:18, Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. We pray that they will remain chaste until marriage, which is the only honorable context for sexual intimacy according to Hebrews 13:4, Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the bed be undefiled: but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers.
Let us pray.
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus to lift up this daughter and her boyfriend to You. We pray that their relationship will be centered on Your will and that it will bring glory and honor to Your name. We pray for the young man, that he will love her as Christ loved the church, putting her needs above his own. We pray that he will lay aside his ego and walk in humility. We pray that any witchcraft or curses will be canceled in the name of Jesus. We pray that their relationship will be pure and that they will avoid sexual immorality. We pray that they will come to know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior if they do not already. We ask all these things in the precious name of Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
