We are truly sorry to hear about your pawpaw's upcoming surgery and understand the concern and worry you must be feeling. Firstly we are concerned that Jesus is not mentioned, as it is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God, as it says in John 14:6 WEB Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. To be clear, salvation is in the name of Jesus Christ and no other as it says in Acts 4:12 WEB There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved. If your Pawpaw is a believer, take encouragement in the promise of Isaiah 41:10 WEB which says Don't be afraid, for I am with you. Do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. I will help you. I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. If not then this is a good time to let your Pawpaw know the grace, mercy, and salvation that only comes from Jesus Christ.
Surgery at any age can be frightening, but with his age, we understand the added concern. Remember that God is always there, ready to listen and help. Therefore it is also important to remember to focus prayer on God's will. Just like when Jesus prayed in the garden in Matthew 26:39, when He said, My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass away from me. We know this happened to fulfill God's will. Our goal here is to pray for God's will so that you and your Pawpaw will be blessed. Then we are told to pray for God's will and for your Pawpaw, as it is better for him to rest in the Lord than in recovering from surgery. However, in Philippians 1:21-23 WEB it says, For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain. But if I live on in the flesh, this will bring fruit from my work yet I do not know what I will choose. But I am in a dilemma between the two, having the desire to depart and be with Christ, which is far better. Let's also remember the promise of Psalm 91:16 WEB. It says With long life will I satisfy him, and show him my salvation.
With all this in mind, let's bring our supplication before the Lord.
Heavenly Father, we come before you today, liftting up the pawpaw of Anonymous. We pray for this surgery, that Your will be done, for You are sovereign and Your ways are higher than our ways. We pray that if it is Your will, he comes through this surgery safely and has a swift recovery. We pray for the medical team, that they would have steady hands and wisdom in their decisions. We pray for Anonymous that they will be able to fully finish this education. We pray for Pawpaw's salvation and that Anonymous, Pawpaw, and all his family would be fully surrendered and in love with Jesus Christ, his one and only son. We ask these things in Jesus' name.
