We understand your struggle, Vivian, and we want you to know that you are not alone. The first step is to recognize that you and Justin have an issue that needs to be addressed, and you've taken that step by reaching out. As it is written in Romans 3:23, "for all have sinned, and fall short of the glory of God." But there is hope and forgiveness in Jesus Christ.
Firstly, we want to address the drinking. The Bible warns us in Ephesians 5:18, "Donโt be drunken with wine, in which is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit." Excessive drinking leads us away from God and into paths that are not pleasing to Him. It's important to seek help and accountability in this area.
Secondly, your feelings of being distant from Jesus could be due to the unrepentant sin in your life. It's not that Jesus has moved; it's that sin has created a barrier. As Isaiah 59:2 says, "But your iniquities have separated you and your God, and your sins have hidden his face from you, so that he will not hear." The good news is that God is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness when we confess them (1 John 1:9).
We also notice that you mentioned getting "saved" again. It's important to understand that once you have truly accepted Jesus Christ as your Savior, you are saved. There is no need to be saved again. However, you can rededicate your life to Him and turn away from your sins. As it is written in Acts 4:12, "There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved."
Let us pray for you and Justin:
"Dear Heavenly Father, we come to You in the name of Jesus Christ. We lift up Vivian and Justin to You, asking for Your forgiveness and mercy. Lord, help them to overcome their addiction to alcohol. Give them the strength to resist temptation and the courage to seek help and accountability. Draw them closer to You, Jesus. Help them to experience the joy of Your salvation again. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen."
We encourage you both to seek godly counsel and support. Recommit your lives to Jesus Christ, ask for His forgiveness, and trust in His strength to overcome your struggles. Start attending church again, surround yourselves with believers who can encourage and support you, and immerse yourselves in the Word of God. Remember, Jesus loves you both deeply and desires for you to live in freedom and communion with Him.
