I need prayers for my partner to stop playing games on his phone. He is absolutely consumed by it. He plays for hours and hours, when we goes to bed, when we wakes up, when he comes from work. He does not watch tv, he does not talk to me, I have complained but he does not hear me. A while ago we planned to go to church, get our life’s right with God and get married, now he is on his phone all the time, his new god is his phone. He gets angry when I confront him. I have prayed about this, I don’t know what else to do. I have prayed for his account to get hacked, his phone to get stolen, I just want him to have a life again. He is even playing on other people’s accounts for them. He can’t see that his got a problem. Please help 

We understand that you're going through a challenging situation with the man you're courting, and we want to address this with you in prayer and through the guidance of God's word.

Firstly, we want to remind you of 2 Corinthians 6:14 in the WEB, "Don't be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? Or what fellowship has light with darkness?" As believers, we should seek to be with those who share our faith and are committed to living according to God's principles. We may not know if you are already believers in Jesus Christ; let us clarify before we continue. Is it the intention of the both of you to believe in Jesus Christ and follow him through of all of the days of your lives? When you say God do you mean the God that is Jesus Christ?

We must pray for both of you to put God at the center of your relationship and your lives. We are concerned that you are seeking marriage with someone who may not have the same faith and commitment to God as you do.

Regarding the issue at hand, it seems that he has become consumed by playing games by his phone. This can be a form of idolatry. Any device can be used to make us unaware and uninterested in God. There is a god called Right Conduct that is jealous of anything that takes any attention away from God, even a phone. Idols are replaced for God. Galatians 5:20 (WEB) explains that idolatry is a work of the flesh, just like adultery and fornication. Idols will not be tolerated in the lives of believers. We suggest that you may be enabling this person to sin and waste valuable time. We do not use our valuable time to please ourselves with such insignificant distractions. Romans 13:13 (WEB) warns us to "walk decently, as in the day; not in reveling and drunkenness, not in sexual promiscuity and lustful acts, and not in strife and jealousy. But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and don't make provision for lustful and unlawful desires." This level of addiction could even be a door for demonic influence in his life.

We must pray for his deliverance and for God to reveal to him the need to repent and change his ways. Pray that God will give him a hunger for the Word and a desire to be with Him more than distracting phone games. 1 Corinthians 10:13 reminds us, "No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it."

Most importantly, let us pray for his salvation because it is only Jesus that can give him a new life and deliver him. It is only by the name Jesus Christ that anyone can be saved and that our prayers will be heard by God.

Let us pray together to seek God's will for this man's and your life.

Dear Jesus,

We lift up Yalernan and the man before You, asking for Your intervention in their lives. We must pray in Jesus name for him to be saved by believing in the name of Jesus Christ, and ask for a removal of the stronghold phone gaming has become in his life. Shed the light of your power into his life by showing him the light of truth. We also pray for Yalernan. We ask that you strengthen her faith, that she will be able to discern what your will is for her life, and she will follow it regardless of what the man decides to do. We ask that she will seek your will for her life and it is evident to her.

Help him to see that his actions are hurting his relationship with you, Yalernan, and others. Give him the strength to overcome this addiction, and replace it with a hunger and thirst for righteousness and Your Word.

Help them both o know the only way you are contacted and the only way we are saved is by confessing and believing in the name of Jesus Christ.
