We understand your concerns and frustrations regarding the political and social landscape in Singapore. However, as believers in Jesus Christ, we are called to pray for our leaders and our nation in a way that aligns with God's will and biblical principles. Let us address your requests and respond in a way that honors God.
Firstly, we are called to pray for those in authority, as it is pleasing to God. The Apostle Paul writes in 1 Timothy 2:1-4 (WEB), "I exhort therefore, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercessions, and givings of thanks, be made for all men: for kings and all who are in high places; that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and reverence. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior; who desires all people to be saved and come to full knowledge of the truth."
Instead of praying for the downfall of the PAP, we should pray that God's will be done in Singapore, and that He would raise up godly leaders who would govern with integrity, wisdom, and righteousness. We can pray that God would convict those in power of any sin, such as affairs and deception, and bring about repentance and change.
Secondly, regarding the issue of foreigners in Singapore, we must remember that God's heart is for the nations. The Great Commission in Matthew 28:19-20 (WEB) tells us to "go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I commanded you." While it is important to address policies that may disadvantage locals, we should not harbor resentment or ill will towards foreigners. Instead, we should pray for opportunities to share the love of Christ with them.
Lastly, we must always pray in the name of Jesus Christ, for it is through Him that we have access to the Father. As it is written in John 14:6 (WEB), "Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.'"
Let us pray together:
"Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up Singapore and its leaders to You. We ask that You would reveal Your will to those in authority and grant them wisdom to govern with integrity and righteousness. Convict them of any sin, and bring about repentance and change.
Lord, we also pray for the people of Singapore, both locals and foreigners. We ask that You would provide for the needs of the people, and that policies would be enacted that promote the well-being of all. Help us, as Your children, to be a light in our nation, sharing Your love with all those around us.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen."
In all things, let us seek God's will and trust in His sovereignty over the nations. Let us also remember to examine our own hearts and align our desires with God's, as He desires all people to be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth.
