Pakistan is a poor country in which 35% of the population lives below the level of poverty. The unfair system of government is making the situation worse for the poor.
I visited different types of people and asked them how and why they are living a terrible and difficult life.
**Orphans:**
1. Replied that in a very early age, their parents died.
2. The house is on rent, and now they are unable to pay the rest.
3. The government does not support daily living.
4. They tried their level best to be admitted in some institution or hostel, but there is no proper system and place.
5. Since their parents were very poor, they did not leave anything for their future.
6. Now they have left their education incomplete and are making an effort for daily living. It is very difficult to survive in this situation. They are five siblings, and only two work, while the rest are a burden on their shoulders.
**Widows:**
1. The most difficult life in Pakistan is that of widows. 10 to 15% of widows who belong to well-to-do families are at a disadvantage; the rest live a very hard life.
2. Because Pakistan is a joint family system society, after the death of a husband, a wife does not have any security.
3. In-laws, after the death of a husband, mostly behave very badly, and there are incidents where they kick them out of their families.
4. After becoming widows, they live a very terrible life, working as maids, sweepers, dishwashers, or in some other low-wage job.
5. Another big issue in Pakistan for widows is facing criticism from society. Since women are considered delicate and weak human beings, people behave very badly.
6. There is no support or system in the government for widows and orphans, whereas other countries support widows and orphans.
**Brick Kiln Workers:**
The most sensitive part of society is the brick kiln workers. Since Pakistan is a very poor country, the salary or reward for work is very low. According to my own survey, one whole family works all day as brick kiln workers and hardly earns five US dollars. Mostly, people in case of emergency get a loan, and the owner gives this loan on debt. Very many times, because of debt, this loan becomes a big amount, and brick kiln workers become slaves. There are families that have been working for the last three generations and are still very poor. Although so many NGOs, both local and international, tirelessly work on such a big issue, since there is no proper system and support for them, they have been living a life of slavery.
