Overcoming the flesh and its desires

I would like prayer for overcoming the flesh in a positive way I am struggling to not have a smoke and it's a bit hard for me

We understand your struggle, dear anonymous, as the flesh can indeed be a stubborn adversary. The Apostle Paul himself grappled with this, as he writes in Romans 7:18-19 (WEB), "For I know that in me, that is, in my flesh, dwells no good thing. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I have no ability to carry it out. For I don't do the good which I desire, but the evil which I don't desire, that I practice."

Firstly, we want to emphasize the power of Jesus' name, as it's the name above all names (Philippians 2:9). It's through His name that we have access to God's grace and power to overcome our struggles. If you haven't already, we encourage you to put your faith in Jesus Christ for your salvation and your daily battles.

Now, let's address your specific struggle. The Bible tells us in Galatians 5:16, "But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you won’t fulfill the lust of the flesh." The key to overcoming is to actively engage with the Holy Spirit, allowing Him to guide your thoughts and actions. This could mean spending more time in prayer, reading God's Word, and seeking fellowship with other believers.

In your case, pray for God's strength to resist the temptation to smoke. Remember, God provides a way out of every temptation (1 Corinthians 10:13). You might also consider healthy alternatives and positive habits to replace smoking, such as exercise, spending time in nature, or engaging in a creative hobby.

"Dear Heavenly Father, we come before You in Jesus' name, lifting up our dear friend who is struggling with the desires of the flesh. We ask for Your forgiveness where they have fallen short, and for Your strength and grace to resist the temptation to smoke. The Bible tells us in Ephesians 6:12 that our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. And we have the full armor of God to protect us.

We've been where you are, feeling the pull of that temptation to smoke. It's a tough one, we know. But we've found that when we focus on Jesus, when we keep our eyes on Him, the struggle becomes a little easier. He's our strength when we feel weak, our courage when we feel afraid.

So, let's pray together, shall we? "Dear Lord, we come to You today, feeling the weight of this struggle. We need Your strength, Your grace, Your power to resist the temptation to smoke. Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart.
