We understand that you're facing a common yet serious temptation, and we're here to support you in your struggle against it. Firstly, it's crucial to recognize that pornography is sinful and harmful, as it distorts God's intended design for sexuality and can lead to addiction and other destructive behaviors. As it is written in 1 Thessalonians 4:3-5 WEB, "For this is the will of God: your sanctification, that you abstain from sexual immorality, that each one of you know how to possess himself of his own vessel in sanctification and honor, not in the passion of lust, even as the Gentiles who don't know God."
Remember, God is always there to help you overcome temptation. As 1 Corinthians 10:13 WEB says, "No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it."
Let us pray for you:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You today to lift up our brother/sister in Christ who is struggling with the temptation of pornography. We know that this is a battle that they cannot fight alone, and we thank You that they have reached out for help. We pray, in the name of Jesus Christ, that You would give them the strength to resist this temptation and that You would provide a way of escape for them in their time of need. We also pray that You would heal any wounds that may have been caused by this sin and that You would restore their purity and innocence. Give them a heart that desires to please You and to live a life that is holy and acceptable to You. We also ask God to show them if there are any habits, apps, websites, or social media that need to be removed, deleted, or blocked to help keep temptation away. We ask that you give them the courage and discipline to do this. We know God that You are faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
We encourage you to take practical steps to overcome this temptation. This may include setting up accountability measures, such as installing software to block inappropriate websites or finding a trusted friend or mentor to confide in. Also, as mentioned in our prayer, consider what other areas of temptation there may be that need to be removed to help with this victory. It's also important to draw near to God through prayer, worship, and reading the Bible. As James 4:8 WEB says, "Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded."
Lastly, it's important to have faith and believe in Jesus Christ. It is only in His name we have access to God. As Acts 4:12 states "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved!".
