When you are going through some dark times it is hard to see two feet in front of you. Your mind is constantly mulling over the what if's, the should have's and the if only's. You often feel like no one understands or cares. It is hard to express the gut wrenching pain you feel deep down inside because it may cause you to stay in bed all day. I get it! I have been there many times. Sometimes the pain can cause your other insecurities to rise to the surface and exaggerate the situation even more. Now you are dealing with things piling up and that feeling of drowning emotionally is starting to overtake you. You can't even think straight and are walking around like a zombie just surviving.
Does this sound like you? There is HOPE! This isn't some slap some religion on you and you will be fine talk. This is true, sincere and out of my heart truth that I learned going through it. I believed in God all my life. I grew up Catholic and we went to church every Sunday. Unfortunately they taught more about man made rules and laws that you need to uphold than who God really is. I was always told if you don't behave God's is going to punish you! This was my take on God! So if you have this view of an authoritative figure why would you ever go to them for help, you would be deathly afraid right! Well I learned that God isn't like that at all. I learned that God is Holy and just. We come to have a reverent fear of God and he doesn't zap you down dead the moment you screw up. Some people take it to the other extreme and think God is some sort of genie that will grant you every wish. He isn't that either. He knows you intimately and created you! He loves you more than anything else. God loved us before we loved him!
I will never fully understand why God allowed me to be sexually abused as a young girl. The loss of innocence and the evil that was brought upon me is unthinkable. However I have come to understand that we live in such an evil world and God has allowed free will for mankind. He does not orchestrate us around like puppets on a string but He will use these things to bring about something good if we allow Him to use us. He will bring light out of dark situations. He will bring you to a place of healing where the pain no longer affects your life. You will have scars but they will only be a reminder of the healing power of God! He will turn beauty from ashes and restore your soul to a place of inner peace. We can then extend our testimony to others in pain and share the healing power of our God! God loves will shine on the dark places of your life if you allow him too.
As David said in Psalm 40:1-3 says, I waited patiently for the LORD; He inclined to me and heard my cry. He lifted me up from the pit of destruction, out of the miry clay; He set my feet upon a rock, and made my footsteps firm. He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God.
I am forever grateful He calls me His own!
