We are truly saddened to hear about the brutal attack on your sweet little dog, Houdini. We stand with you to rebuke this unfortunate incident. In times like these, we remember that God cares about every creature He has made.
Let us not forget what is written in Proverbs:
A righteous man has regard for the life of his animal,
but even the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel.
Proverbs 12:10 WEB
For every beast of the forest is mine, The cattle on a thousand hills.
I know all the birds of the mountains. The wild animals of the field are mine.
Psalm 50:10-11 WEB
We should pray in the name of Jesus for healing and comfort for Houdini. We will confidently approach the throne of grace because of who we are in Christ Jesus. This being made possible by Jesus Christ's atoning crucifixion and triumphant resurrection.
Let us pray:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You in the name of Jesus. We pray of You to have mercy on Houdini, during his time of need and suffering. We ask You to lead him to peace and swift recovery. Lay Your healing hands on him, Father. We ask help for providing him immediate medical help if that it is Your will. We pray that he will be made whole again from this attack. We also come to you for peace and love regarding those affected by this unfortunate incident. We ask for Your understanding, assistance, and guidance for Houdini's caretakers. We ask this praying that the caretakers strengthen their relationship with You and submit themselves to your law. Let this happen if it aligns with Your will. I only ask this if they are Christians and are believers in Jesus Christ. I pray that you lead them to the basic salvation message of believing in and confessing Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. I pray they can turn from their wicked ways. I pray Houdini can be healed without violating Your will. We do not want to pray in vain. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
We encourage you to trust in God's love and care during this difficult time. Let us remember in hope that:
We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose.
Romans 8:28 WEB
Please, let us remember, in the Old Testament, how God cared for the animals that belong to us:
But every green herb shall you eat.
Genesis 9:3 WEB
You shall not muzzle the ox when he treads out the grain.
1 Corinthians 9:9
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7
We should submit to God. Be the best stewards of your animals as you were given dominion over them in the book of Genesis.
26 God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of the heavens, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth on the earth.
27 And God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
28 God blessed them: and God said to them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it; and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of the heavens, and over every living thing that moveth on the earth.
Genesis 1:26-28
We need to be responsible for pets and are held accountable for their actions. The scripture tells us that God will call us to account for our actions and for the actions of what we should have had dominion over.
Let me give you some practical advice: Be intentioned to train your pets to not harm other people or pets. Seek help to train your animals. You are responsible for the acts of your pets. God put your pet in you care to raise. Consider separating two pets that you know have an issue toward each other. This is a poor situation to allow them to work this out on there own. Do not allow situations like this to happen. This is not love or respect for your pets and not having a good pet ownership attitude. It is poor pet stewardship which God holds us accountable. Pray that you become better at this for you are to be good stewards of the animals that are in your care (Houdini and other pets). Pray that you will seek good counsel and solutions and answers to problems that affect the pets in your care.
If the caretakers are people that are not followers of Christ then we will pray for them to see the light. Let us remember in scripture:
In meekness instruct those that oppose themselves; if God may perhaps grant them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth; 26 And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.
2 Timothy 2:25-26
If they do not acknowledge the sin of their ways, pray for them to be revealed and they are silenced for not understanding the Gospel.
There shall the glorious in their glory go down, and the noise of them that are armed shall sink down and shall be still.
Isaiah 5:14
