'Our Purpose Is His Praise' - Matthew 14:32-33

After Peter and Jesus were in the boat, the wind became calm. Then those followers in the boat worshiped Jesus and said, "Truly you are the Son of God."

—Matthew 14:32-33

Key Thought
The ultimate goal of experiencing Jesus' presence and power in our lives is to lead to our praise of him for who he is and what he has done. Rather than simply an adrenaline fix, an emotional wave, or an incredible experience, our service to Jesus and our recognition that his presence and power make us better than we really are should lead us to praise him and confess him as God's Son and our Savior.

Today's Prayer
Holy Father and eternal King, thank you for your plan to send Jesus, you Son. I believe that Jesus Christ is your Son who came in the flesh and redeemed me from my sin by being my atoning sacrifice. I love you for loving me so sacrificially and cleansing me so purely. I praise you for Jesus and I praise Jesus because he is worthy of all praise, honor, and obedience. In the name of Jesus my Savior, I offer my eternal thanks and praise. Amen.

Today's Verses in Context
Then Jesus made the followers get into the boat. Jesus told them to go to the other side of the lake. Jesus said that he would come later. Jesus stayed there to tell the people they could go home. After Jesus said good-bye to the people, he went up into the hills. Jesus went there alone to pray. It was late, and Jesus was there alone. At this time, the boat was already far away on the lake. The boat was having trouble because of the waves. The wind was blowing against it. Between three and six o'clock in the morning, Jesus' followers were still in the boat. Jesus came to them. He was walking on the water. The followers saw Jesus walking on the water and they were afraid. They said, "It's a ghost!" The followers shouted with fear. But Jesus quickly spoke to them. Jesus said, "Don't worry! It's me! Don't be afraid." Peter said, "Lord, if that is really you, then tell me to come to you on the water." Jesus said, "Come, Peter." Then Peter left the boat and walked on the water to Jesus. But while Peter was walking on the water, he saw the wind and the waves. Peter became afraid and began sinking down into the water. Peter shouted, "Lord, save me!" Then Jesus caught Peter with his hand. Jesus said, "Your faith is small. Why did you doubt?" After Peter and Jesus were in the boat, the wind became calm. Then those followers in the boat worshiped Jesus and said, "Truly you are the Son of God." After they crossed the lake, they came to the shore at Gennesaret. The people in that place saw Jesus. They knew who he was. So they told the other people all around there that Jesus had come. The people brought all their sick people to Jesus. The people begged Jesus to let them only touch his coat to be healed. And all the sick people that touched Jesus' coat were healed.Matthew 14:22-36

Related Scripture Readings
Jesus did many other miracles that his followers saw. Those miracles are not written in this book. But these things are written so that you can believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God. Then, by believing, you can have life through his name. — John 20:30-31

God promised long ago to give this Good News to his people. God used his prophets to promise this. That promise is written in the Holy Scriptures. The Good News is about God's Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. As a person, he was born from the family of David. But through the Spirit of holiness Jesus was shown to be God's Son. He was shown to be God's Son with great power by rising from death. — Romans 1:2-4

I write this letter to you people who believe in the Son of God. I write so that you will know that you have eternal life now. We can come to God with no doubts. This means that when we ask God for things (and those things agree with what God wants for us), then God cares about what we say. God listens to us every time we ask him. So we know that he gives us the things that we ask from him. — 1 John 5:13-15

I thank everyone for their prays, it really means a lot to me to have people of God standing with me during this sad time. I know with all my heart God is real and I know he is coming back for us. God has been with me for so many things. For so long I pray for a husband and God answered that pray. I am working hard to manage my patience and know God is in control. I am being a good wife praying and staying committed to my marriage convent. I have no idea what my husband is doing, I wonder everyday if he is praying for us or has he moved on to other women. I don't feel like God want us to be divorce, so many things has hindered movement in the case. I remember the day he went to file for divorce, I was sitting on the sofa when he attempted to leave the house, his car would not start that morning, he would go on to get a friend to pick him us but I felt that car not starting was a sign from God this was not suppose to be happening. Lord, please do your will in Jesus mighty name I pray. Amen!
