ROMANS 12:6
HELP US, LORD, TO WORK TOGETHER
WITH THE GIFTS THAT YOU BESTOW;
GIVE US UNITY OF PURPOSE
AS WE SERVE YOU HERE BELOW.
Today's meditation causes me to think about the lesser individuals noted in the Bible who were commended for some little deed which the Lord thought commendable.
People like the small boy with his fishes and bread. The widow who put her two pennies into the Temple offering. Or, the many other we are afforded brief glimpses whom God thought worthy of mentioning in His Word.
In our service for the Lord we should let the pendulum swing both ways. That is, never under estimate some small deed the Lord would have us to do as unworthy of our talents. Or, don't overlook the seemingly small service of others.
I believe that when the day comes that Jesus sums up our lives and service to Him these small and unobserved deeds will count for much in His assessment and commendation of His servants. For, as He said,
"And whosoever shall give to drink to one of these little ones a cup of cold water only, in the name of a disciple, truly, I say to you, he shall not lose his reward."
