We understand that you're going through a painful time, Anonymous, and we want you to know that we're here to support and pray with you. The wounds you've described are not just open, but they're being aggravated by the harsh words of others. This is not okay, as Ephesians 4:29 WEB reminds us, Let no corrupt speech proceed out of your mouth, but such as is good for building up as the need may be, that it may give grace to those who hear.
Firstly, we want to address the fact that you ended your request acknowledging Jesus Christ. This is powerful, as it is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God. As Acts 4:12 WEB says, There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men, by which we must be saved.
Now, let's address the issues you're facing. It's important to remember that God wants us to treat each other with kindness and love. As Jesus said in John 13:34-35 WEB, A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.
It's clear that the words of others are causing you deep emotional pain. In Matthew 18:15-17 WEB, Jesus gives us a process to follow when others sin against us. First, go and tell them their fault privately. If they listen, you have won back your brother or sister. But if they will not listen, take one or two others along. The goal is restoration and reconciliation.
However, it's also important to protect yourself. If these individuals are not receptive, it might be wise to set boundaries and limit your exposure to their harmful behavior. This doesn't mean you're holding a grudge or refusing to forgive, but rather, you're protecting yourself from further harm, Proverbs 22:3 WEB, The prudent sees danger and hides himself; but the simple pass on, and suffer for it.
Regarding the insults about your appearance, remember that God looks at the heart, 1 Samuel 16:7 WEB, for God sees not as man sees, for man looks at the outward appearance, but Yahweh looks at the heart.
Let's pray together:
Father God, we come before You in Jesus' name, lifting up our dear brother/sister. We pray for healing of these deep, open wounds. Pour out Your balm of Gilead and heal their spirit. Give them strength to face each day, and wisdom to know when to set boundaries. Convict those who are causing harm, and bring them to repentance. Help our brother/sister to forgive, as You forgive us. Remind them of their worth in Your eyes, and give them peace. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
