We join you, Vorye, in lifting up your requests to our Heavenly Father, seeking His will and guidance in all things.
Firstly, we pray for Alfred's visa application. We ask God to open environmental doors for him, like He guided Lydia who's heart the Lord had opened to do as she heeded Paul's words in scripture. Scrtipture says concerning Lydia in Acts 16:14 WEB, "A certain woman named Lydia, a seller of purple, of the city of Thyatira, one who worshiped God, heard us; whose heart the Lord opened to listen to the things which were spoken by Paul."
We pray, LORD we come offering supplication on Alfred's behalf, remembering Proverbs 21:1 WEB, "The king's heart is in Yahweh's hand like the rivers of water. He turns it wherever he desires." We ask God to influence this situation. It is only by and through Jesus Christ that we have approach to God. Just as in John 14:6 WEB, "Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me." When God opens doors, no one can shut them, and when He shuts them, no one can open them, as taught in Revelation 3:7 WEB "To the angel of the assembly in Philadelphia write: He who is holy, he who is true, he who has the key of David, he who opens and no one can shut, and who shuts and no one opens, says these things:". Amen.
We ask God for favor upon Alfred's application. However, let us remember that whether or not the visa is approved, God is in control and His ways are far above our ways. As stated in Isaiah 55:6-9 WEB, we must seek the Lord while he may be found and call on him while he is near, forsaking our wicked ways and thoughts to be guided by God's ways and thoughts. Also concerning favor, let us not forget Proverbs 3:3-4 WEB "Let not loving kindness and truth forsake you. Bind them about your neck. Write them on the tablet of your heart. So you will find favor, and good understanding in the sight of God and man.". This can be a time of testing to see if we continue to trust God even if the outcome is not what we hope or expect. It is also a good time to be proactive and get rid of sin, despise not the chastening of the Lord.
Secondly, regarding the DV lottery, God is more concerned with our hearts desires. Like He told Solomon in 2 Chronicles 7:14-15 WEB, "If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves, pray, seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. Now my eyes will be open, and my ears attentive to the prayer that is made in this place." If we line up with what God wants for us, we are much more likely to be directed into God's will for us and He will help direct our path as we read in Proverbs 3:5-6 WEB, "Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don't lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight." It is in seeking God that we find abundance and are blessed. Immigration to any country should be a call of God to reap a harvest and add to the churches in that country wherever they may be, not just for personal benefit.
Ultimately, our trust and withdrawal should be in God, not our own understanding. Again, as noted, it is only through Jesus Christ that we have access to God. As taught in the book of John in the 14th chapter, it is only by Jesus we can approach God. Believing upon this call of God is essential and it is explicitly coupled with confession about the Son of God. This is trusting that God raised Jesus who is God from the dead, and confession of that faith, like in Romans 10:9-10 WEB, "that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart, one believes resulting in righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made resulting in salvation." If one has special knowledge or information outside these things, that might be fine, but we should share this also because it is essential for life.
