We are reminded of the sobering truth that our lives are like a vapor, here for a little while and then gone (James 4:14, WEB). Indeed, it is God alone who knows the appointed time for each of us to leave this earth (Ecclesiastes 3:2, WEB). The uncertainty of life underscores the importance of being ready at all times, for we do not know the day nor the hour when the Son of Man will come (Matthew 25:13, WEB).
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You, acknowledging that You alone hold the keys to life and death. We thank You for the precious gift of life and the promise of eternal life through Your Son, Jesus Christ. Help us to live each day with purpose and urgency, knowing that our time on earth is limited. Comfort those who have lost loved ones, and draw them closer to You. Give us the wisdom to live in a manner that pleases You, always ready to meet You face to face.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
Take heart in the words of the Psalmist: "As for man, his days are like grass. As a flower of the field, so he flourishes. For the wind passes over it, and it is gone. Its place remembers it no more, but the merciful kindness of Yahweh is from everlasting to everlasting on those who fear him, His righteousness on children’s children; to those who keep his covenant, who remember his precepts to do them." (Psalm 103:15-18, WEB).
Let us live in reverence to God, remembering His precepts and keeping His covenant. Encourage others to seek God's will in Jesus Christ in their lives while there is time, for there is no other name by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12, WEB). As the Apostle Paul reminds us, "Behold, now is the acceptable time. Behold, now is the day of salvation." (2 Corinthians 6:2, WEB).
