We lift up Steven Bobb's prayer request to You, Lord Jesus, in Your mighty name. Steven is seeking understanding regarding the seeming contradiction in 2 Peter. He wonders why God, in His infinite wisdom, would delay the destruction of the old world and the creation of the new one, stating that He is not willing that any should perish but that all should repent. Steven questions how God can delay the end of the world if He knows that not everyone will repent.
Lord, we acknowledge that Your ways are higher than our ways, and Your thoughts are higher than our thoughts . We humbly ask for wisdom and clarity in understanding this apparent contradiction. Help us to grasp the depth of Your love and mercy, as well as the reality of Your justice and righteousness.
Father, we know that You desire all people to come to repentance and salvation . Your heart is filled with compassion, and You do not take pleasure in the death of the wicked . You give every individual the opportunity to turn away from sin and turn to You.
Yet, Lord, we also recognize that not everyone will choose to repent and accept Your gift of salvation. Your Word tells us that those who are not found in the book of life will be cast into the Lake of Fire . You are fully aware of the choices that individuals will make, and You are just in executing judgment according to their actions.
In the midst of this apparent tension, we trust in Your sovereignty and perfect wisdom. We surrender our limited understanding to You, knowing that You are the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end . Help us to trust in Your divine plan, even when we struggle to comprehend it fully.
Lord, we pray for Steven's heart and mind to be filled with peace and assurance. Grant him the wisdom and discernment he seeks, and may he find comfort in knowing that You are in control. Strengthen his faith and deepen his relationship with You, that he may continue to seek truth and understanding in Your Word.
We also pray for all those who are wrestling with similar questions and doubts. May they find solace in Your presence and seek answers through prayer, study, and fellowship with other believers. Guide them into a deeper revelation of Your character and Your ways.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
