We are truly sorry to hear that you have experienced abuse and we are here to support you in prayer and truth according to God's word. First, we want to address that abuse of any kind is not God's will for your life. He desires for you to be treated with kindness, love, and respect.
Let's look at what the WEB says, "Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the assembly, and gave himself up for it" (Ephesians 5:25). This verse shows that God wants us to be in relationships that reflect Christ's love for us, willing to sacrifice for the well-being of others. Any form of abuse, be it physical, emotional, or verbal, does not align with this principle.
We also want to address that in the context of marriage and relationships, the Bible is clear on the sanctity of marriage between one man and one woman. If you are currently in a relationship that does not align with this, we encourage you to consider God's will for your life in this regard.
If you are not married, we encourage you to pursue relationships as courtship with the goal being marriage to another Christian Believer.
Now, let us pray for you:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You today, lifting up this beloved child of Yours who has experienced abuse. We pray for healing, restoration, and protection in Jesus' name. We ask that You will provide godly counsel and support, and guide them in Your will for their life.
Lord, we also pray that You will help them to discern Your will for their relationships. Guide them to a spouse who will love and cherish them as You intend. We pray against any spirit of abuse, manipulation, or control, and we ask that You will break any ungodly ties in their life.
Father, we also pray for the person who has caused harm. We ask that You will convict their heart and bring them to repentance. Help them to see the error of their ways and to seek Your face.
Finally Lord, we pray for salvation, that anyone who does not know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. That they will come to know Him as the only way to eternal life. For Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me" (John 14:6).
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
We encourage you to seek support from your local church, Christian counselors, and godly friends. Remember that you are never alone, and that God is always with you. Be strong and courageous, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go (Joshua 1:9).
