Key Thought
So often as human beings, we want to do what I call "play in the gray." Rather than seeing issues as black and white, right and wrong, good and evil, we often say, "Well, it's not all that cut and dried. It's not really a black and white issue; it's really more a gray issue." Jesus does not allow us to "play in the gray" about his identity. If we are not for him, we are against him. Being lukewarm, undecided, noncommittal, is simply another way of opposing Jesus. So let's begin today to daily live with unabashed dedication in our service to the Lord Jesus Christ!
Prayer
Loving and Almighty God, I confess that sometimes I do not want to take a stand on a controversial issue that might get me criticized or ridiculed. But today and each day that follows, Father, I want to serve Jesus without compromise. I don't want to hedge on my devotion and loyalty to him. As I commit myself to his service, please further empower me by your Spirit with boldness to clearly, yet sensitively, proclaim my allegiance to Jesus Christ as my Lord. In Jesus' holy name I pray. Amen.
Related Scriptures
Jesus is the only One who can save people. His name is the only power in the world that has been given to save people. We must be saved through Jesus!"
— Acts 4:12
Then Jesus said to his followers, "If any person wants to follow me, he must say 'No' to the things he wants. That person must accept the cross (suffering) that is given to him, and he must follow me. The person that wants to save his life will lose it. And every person that gives his life for me will save it. It is worth nothing for a person to have the whole world, if he loses his soul. A person could never pay enough to buy back his soul. The Son of Man will come again with his Father's glory and with his angels. At that time, the Son of Man will reward each person for the things he has done.
— Matthew 16:24-27
If a person will not accept the cross (suffering) that will be given to him when he follows me, then that person is not good enough for me. Any person that loves his life {more than he loves me} will lose true life. Any person that gives up his life for me will find true life.
— Matthew 10:38-39
