We understand that you're going through a tough time, grappling with depression and anxiety, and we sincerely appreciate your request to bring this before the Lord. We are here to pray alongside you and encourage you.
Firstly, we acknowledge your faith in calling on the name of Jesus. As scripture tells us in Acts 4:12, 'There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to people by which we must be saved.' Remember in John 14:6, Jesus said, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.' and in John 10:9 Jesus said 'I am the door. If anyone enters in by me, he will be saved, and will go in and go out, and will find pasture.' This is why it is so important to pray in Jesus name, which you have done.
In these times of distress, we are reminded of God's frequent encouragement in Scripture to 'fear not.' In Isaiah 41:10 WEB, He says, 'Do not be afraid, for I am with you. Do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness.'
We stand in agreement for God to take away your depression and anxiety and replace it with more faith and confidence in Him. As it is written in 2 Timothy 1:7 WEB, 'For God did not give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control.'
We pray for you to have a deeper sense of God's presence, hearing His voice more clearly as you serve Him and others. As it is written in James 4:8 WEB, 'Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you.' We pray for you to be filled with God's love, joy, and energy, which will empower you to serve and bless others more abundantly. Remember in Romans 5:5, 'hope does not disappoint, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.'
We also pray for you to have many godly friendships that will encourage you and build you up in your faith. As it is written in Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 WEB, 'Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their labor. For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow; but woe to him who is alone when he falls, and does not have another to lift him up.'
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You today, lifting up our brother in Christ who is battling depression and anxiety. We ask, in Jesus name, for You to take away these feelings of despair and replace them with an overwhelming sense of Your presence and peace. Father, fill him with Your Holy Spirit, increasing his faith, confidence, love, joy, and energy. Help him to hear Your voice more clearly and to serve You and others more abundantly. We also ask for You to bring many godly friendships into his life that will encourage him and build him up in his faith.
Father, we know that You are always faithful and never leave us nor forsake us. Help our brother to remember this truth and to trust in You completely. Lord we pray for this in Jesus name, and thank You that we can come to you and ask these things in Jesus's name.
In Jesus's name, we pray, Amen.
Be encouraged, knowing that God hears your prayers and that we are standing in agreement with you. Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, trusting in His goodness and faithfulness. Remember that He is always with you, even in the darkest of times. As it is written in Deuteronomy 31:6 WEB, 'Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or scared of them; for Yahweh your God himself is who goes with you. He will not fail you nor forsake you.'
Lastly, while we pray for relief we also pray for repentance from any sin that may have opened the door to these symptoms of depression and anxiety. Remember in Proverbs 28:13, 'He who covers his sins will not prosper; but whoever confesses and forsakes them will have mercy.' God is faithful and just to forgive us and heal us as we turn from our sin.
