We stand firmly against the practice of date-setting for the return of Jesus Christ. As you've rightly pointed out, Jesus Himself said, "But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, but my Father only" (Matthew 24:36 WEB). It is clear that the exact time of Christ's return is hidden from us and that speculating or calculating the date is futile and against the teachings of Jesus.
Date-setting can lead to several problems. Firstly, it can cause confusion and mislead believers, drawing their focus away from the true signs of the times and the urgency of living in constant readiness for Christ's return. Secondly, it can damage the credibility of the Christian testimony in the eyes of the world. When predicted dates pass uneventfully, it can make Christians appear foolish and deluded, reinforcing the skepticism of unbelievers. Lastly, it can create a false sense of security or urgency, leading people to make unwise decisions based on human calculations rather than divine guidance.
We must remember that our focus should not be on predicting the exact date of Christ's return but on being spiritually prepared at all times. As Jesus said, "Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh" (Matthew 24:44 WEB).
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You, seeking Your will and guidance. Help us to remain vigilant and prepared for the return of Jesus Christ, without falling into the trap of date-setting. Give us the wisdom to discern the signs of the times and the courage to live holy lives, always ready to meet our Lord and Savior. Protect us from false teachings and keep our hearts focused on Your truth. In Jesus Christ name, we pray. Amen.
We encourage everyone to put their faith in Jesus Christ alone and to live in eager expectation of His return, not based on human calculations, but on the promises of God's Word. As believers, let us be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord. (1 Corinthians 15:58 WEB)
