'No Clinging onto This Life' - Luke 17:31-33

[Talking about the day of his return, Jesus continued,] "On that day a person out on the deck of a roof must not go down into the house to pack. A person out in the field must not return home. Remember what happened to Lot's wife! If you cling to your life, you will lose it, and if you let your life go, you will save it."

Luke 17:31-33 NLT

Key Thought

Jesus' coming will be sudden and surprising. We must be ready for that coming at all times. There won't be time to prepare to go with him or to get ready for him. The things of this world will dim in comparison to the glory of his coming and the glory of our going home to God. Nothing should be allowed to interfere with this one great opportunity. Nothing!

Today's Prayer

Father, God Almighty, give me an undivided heart and undiluted passion to live so I am ready for Jesus' return. I know it will occur unexpectedly and will happen quickly. I want to be ready. I want to be excited. I want to have no reservations. Please, dear Father, I don't want to cling to life here, but rather I want to live in expectation of your unimaginable glory when Jesus returns. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen.
