Our Open Doors partners in Nigeria were ready to help when a line of displaced people, with few belongings, entered a village in Kaduna State. The Nigerian believers walked in silence, tired, and with shadows of what they have seen and experienced in their eyes. The villagers were equally sad; some wept openly as they watched.
These displaced people are part of the 53 communities in Kaduna State that were attacked and destroyed by Fulani herdsmen last year. An uncomfirmed number were killed, women were raped, and the displaced trekked for over three days to arrive safely in another village.
Pray for God's hand to turn the anger of the militants away from His people in Nigeria. Pray for the supernatural protection of believers that are vulnerable to this violence.
The host community and local church immediately opened their doors to these displaced believers. But the need was great, and over time, the needs were too much for them to meet. Open Doors got involved to further support these displaced believers and the church.
Last month, Open Doors delivered emergency relief to over 1,300 displaced Christian families in Central Nigeria. In partnership with the local church, we helped provide maize, rice, and beans as well as financial support. Most Christians receiving this aid live either in internally displaced persons (IDP) camps or with host families.
In addition to meeting practial needs, we want to make sure that believers have all the resources they need to grow in their faith. Because of this, fifty pastors received a package of Christian literature to carry on the ministry of delivering the good news of Jesus.
Praise God for Nigerian brothers and sisters who have opened their hearts and their homes to these desperate and hurting believers. Ask God to bless them in significant ways for being willing to be His hands and feet.
Thanks so much for praying, Elohim bless you. Taken from Open Doors USA text alert.
