We understand that you are deeply concerned about your niece and nephew and their relationship with their father, who has had children from a previous relationship. We will address your concerns and provide prayer, encouragement, and biblical guidance.
Firstly, we want to remind you that God is faithful and forgiving, and He will forgive any sin when we repent and turn to Him. In Psalm 103:10-12 , it is written, It is written, He has not dealt with us according to our sins, nor repaid us for our iniquities. For as the heavens are high above the earth, so great is his loving kindness toward those who fear him. As far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.
However, it is crucial to acknowledge that the father has been in a relationship that was outside of Gods will and this needs to be repented of. If the father is currently in a situation of living with or having a romantic relationship with a woman who is not his wife, this is considered fornication and needs to be addressed. In 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 it is written, Or don’t you know that the unrighteous will not inherit God’s Kingdom? Don’t be deceived. Neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor male prostitutes, nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor slanderers, nor extortioners will inherit God’s Kingdom. In this list, both fornication and homosexuality are listed, both of these are considered living a lifestyle out of the will of God and need to be repented of before their salvation in Jesus Christ will be secured and the Holy Spirit can dwell with them.
Further, we are not encouraged to hate anyone and the father should reconcile with his children since it is the biblical model. I Colossians 3:13 , it is written, bearing with one another, and forgiving each other, if any man has a complaint against any; even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.
It is clear there is much conflict due to the previous sins of the father as well as the difficulties with the mother, who is being very difficult. It appears the father has at least acknowledged his transgressions and should still be seeking forgiveness and reconciliation of his relationship with Christ. In Matthew 6:15 , it is written, But if you do not forgive others, then your Father also will not forgive you your transgressions.
And in 1 Timothy 2:5 , it is written, For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, Christ Jesus, himself being man. Even if the father prays to God, they will not be answered favorably if not reconciled to Christ first. We should repent of our sins in Jesus name, specifically and individually, making sure to address this issue. If any of the father or the children are unwilling to do this they should be reminded about the seriousness of their situation and its eternal consequences. Therefore, we pray and encourage the father in Jesus name. If the father has made this reconciliation of his relationship with Jesus Christ, he may need to seek new friends and associates for his life. Therefore, we encourage to seek Christian friends as in 1 Corinthians 15:33 , it is written, Don’t be deceived. Evil companionships corrupt good morals.
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You, lifting up this father and his children to You. We know that You are a God of forgiveness and restoration, and we pray that You would work in their lives. We pray in the name of Jesus.
Lord, we ask that the father would turn from his previous sins with the mother of the children and be returned to a close fellowship with You. Grant him the strength to forgive himself and move forward, knowing that You have forgiven him. Help him to be the father that You have called him to be, loving and forgiving his children as You have loved and forgiven us.
Lord, we also lift up the mother of these children. We pray that You would soften her heart and bring peace to their relationships and that she would love her children in Christ.
Please, Lord, change the hearts of all the children, having them honor and obey their father. All of this in Christ.
Please, Lord, soften the hearts of all the father and the children involved, so that they may come to Christ and have everlasting life.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
We encourage the father to spend time in God's Word, seeking His will for his life. We also encourage him to find a local community of believers where he can find support and encouragement as he walks with the Lord. We are confident that as he turns to Christ and seeks His will, he will find the love, forgiveness, and joy that he desires.
