New Year - Christian or Babylonian?

Captain Hugo

Servant
Dear Father In Heaven,

I pray that all brethren, by virtue of being Christians, model themselves in thought and action upon Jesus Christ, and resist the fleshly desires of Satan-influenced men. As Christians, aren't we to follow God's laws, not man's?  Aren't we being called to live a spiritually inspired life as opposed to indulging in pagan traditions and practices? Isn't it high time we spend our efforts seeking our Lord and His Imminent Return, instead of mindlessly, if not recklessly, partaking in annual carousing sprees that date back to Babylonia 2000 BC?

"Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ."

(Colossians 2:8)

Brothers & sisters, I pray that all may see the light and wisdom of God's ways as celebrating New Year is nowhere to be found in God's calendar.

"And in vain they worship Me, teaching as doctrines the commandments of men."

(Mark 7:7)

For those who are swept up in the revelry put themselves first and, God forbid, God second!

“Making the word of God of no effect through your tradition which you have handed down. And many such things you do.”

(Mark 7:13)

Following such abominable customs, so frequently dangerous and lethal, disqualifies us in God's eyes.

" . . . drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the Kingdom of God."

(Galatians 5:21)

"He answered and said to them, “Why do you also transgress the commandment of God because of your tradition?"

(Matthew 15:3)

As it is a sin to break Your law God, we seek You first and foremost in all Your ways, and not partake in man's folklore culture.

So let us always be diligent to draw close to You Lord and . . .

"Flee also youthful lusts; but pursue righteousness, faith, love, peace with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart."

(2 Timothy 2:22)

In Jesus' name, I pray, forever & ever,

Amen!

Thank you for giving us the privilege to pray on your behalf. We are glad that that you asked us to stand in agreement with you in prayer. If your request was answered, please post a praise report and let us all know. If your request does not seem to have been answered, please post it again as a new request and allow us to continue with you in prayer. We all hope that our prayers are answered in the way that we want. Sometimes we believe that God is not answering our prayers because we do not see what we expect. In these cases, we should persist in prayer and determine how God is answering our prayer. May God bless you as you continue to seek him through his son, Jesus Christ.
