We are truly sorry to hear about your struggle with pornography addiction. Remember, there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus (Romans 8:1 WEB). Turn to Him, for He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (1 John 1:9 WEB)
Firstly, we need to address that pornography is sinful and harmful. It is a form of lust, which Jesus equates to adultery (Matthew 5:28 WEB). It objectifies people and can lead to other sinful behaviors. It is a trap that leads to destruction (Proverbs 7:21-23 WEB).
The first and only way to true freedom is through Jesus Christ. It is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God. Also, there is no other name by which we can be saved. (Acts 4:12 WEB) Make sure to know Jesus personally, the only one who can bring true freedom. For it is written, "So if the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed." (John 8:36 WEB). If you have not already, accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior and allow His grace and power to work in your life.
You must start by confessing your sin, repenting, and asking God for forgiveness. (2 Chronicles 7:14 WEB)
Next, understand that you are not alone in this struggle. Many have found freedom through God's power. As it is written, "No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it." (1 Corinthians 10:13 WEB)
We need you to know that victory is possible, but it requires a commitment and disciplines to stay pure in heart. Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life. (Proverbs 4:23 NLT). Remove any access to pornographic material from your life. This might mean installing filters on your devices, avoiding certain websites, or even finding a new job if your current one exposes you to temptation.
Replace your old habits with new, healthy ones. Spend time in God's Word, pray, and fellowship with other believers. These things will strengthen your faith and help you resist temptation. (Romans 12:2 WEB)
Also, seek accountability, someone you trust who can support and encourage you. Confess your struggles to them and allow them to help you stay on the path to purity. (James 5:16 WEB)
We will pray together.
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You, lifting up this dear one who is struggling with addiction to pornography. We know, Lord, that this is not Your will for their life, and we ask for Your forgiveness, Your cleansing, and Your healing.
Father, we pray that they will turn to You with all their heart, and that they will find true freedom in Christ Jesus. Help them to stand firm against temptation, and give them the strength to overcome this addiction.
Guide them to helpful resources, supportive friends, and a community of believers who will walk alongside them in this journey. Restore their purity, Lord, and help them to live a life that honors and glorifies You.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
