We are grateful for your request and are here to pray and guide you through the Word of God. You've met a man who shares your profession in music, is a powerful man of God, and has been a pastor. You admire his qualities, including his experience in dementia care, which is a great support for you as you care for your mother. You've been communicating regularly, and you're hoping for a romantic relationship, but you do not know his intentions. While we understand your feelings, let's first recall "Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don't lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight," Proverbs 3:5-6 WEB.
Your desire for an equally yoked relationship is biblical, as we are warned "Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with iniquity? Or what fellowship has light with darkness," 2 Corinthians 6:14 WEB. However, we must also remember that God's timing is perfect. Just as you should not lean on your own understanding, do not rush into assumptions or actions. God is preparing your heart and his.
However, we need to address a couple issues. First, marriage is honorable and is a lifelong commitment between a man and a woman. It is important to keep that focus and avoid unwise situations. Spending time alone together in non-public places is not wise unless you are in a marriage covenant.
Now let's pray:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You, lifting up our sister in Christ who is seeking Your will for her life. She has met a man of God who shares her passion for music and has a heart for caring for others. We pray that You would guide their friendship and reveal Your plan for their lives.
Lord, if it is Your will, we pray that this friendship may develop into a godly, equally yoked relationship that honors You. We ask that You would give them both wisdom, patience, and discernment as they navigate this season. Help them to trust in Your timing and to seek Your face in all things.
If there is anything in their lives that is not pleasing to You, reveal it to them, Lord, and help them to turn away from it. We pray that they would be a light to the world, reflecting Your love and grace in all they do.
We also pray for our sister's mother, that You would continue to watch over her and provide for her needs. Give our sister the strength and grace she needs to care for her mother, and help her to trust in Your goodness and faithfulness.
Finally, we pray for our sister's past relationship. We pray for complete healing and release from any anger, bitterness, or disappointment. We pray for the same for her ex-boyfriend also. We ask that You would help them both to forgive and to move forward in the freedom and victory of Jesus Christ.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
Finally, we want to encourage you to continue to seek God's face and trust in His timing. Be open and honest with this man about your feelings, but do so in a way that is honorable and respectful. Remember that God's ways are higher than our ways, and His thoughts higher than our thoughts. Trust that He is working everything out for your good and His glory.
If you have not had the discussion about Jesus Christ then it is very important to do so. We are not saved by not doing bad things or doing good things. We are saved by believing in Jesus Christ. He is the only mediator between God and man and it is only by His name that we have access to God.
The Bible declares, "that if you will confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and believe in your heart that God has raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart, one believes unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation," Romans 10:9-10 WEB. "For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus," 1 Timothy 2:5 WEB. "Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me,'" John 14:6 WEB. "who wishes all people to be saved and come to full knowledge of the truth," 1 Timothy 2:4 WEB.
