We understand your distress and we are here to support you in prayer and truth. Firstly, it's important to acknowledge that the situation you're facing is not an easy one. The behavior of your nephew and the subsequent stress are undoubtedly straining for both you and your family.
However we must not forget the details of Christ's commandment to 'Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, and pray for those who mistreat you.' We know it is humanly possible to love someone in this way with the help of the Holy Spirit who lives in every believer. As you have come to us for prayer, we know you are a believer and have been saved into the kingdom of God through faith in his son, Jesus Christ.
We were particularly concerned by your wish for your nephew to never return. We must remember that God desires for all people to be saved and come to a knowledge of the truth. As followers of Christ, we are called to love and forgive, even in difficult situations. This is not to disregard the importance of boundaries and the well-being of your family. Further we are instructed to 'make every effort to live in peace with everyone and to be holy; without holiness no one will see the Lord.' In prayer and fasting we should prayer for your nephew to be changed from a wild olive branch that he be grafted into the true olive tree that is Jesus Chirst. If, however, your nephew does not change his ways and is not respecting your family, he must look for his living situation somewhere outside your family's home. This could be with other family members or the social program provided in your area for drug addiction.
We are glad you mentioned the name of Jesus Christ in your request, but we must also remember that the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. This is the only Jesus that can rebuke the evils of drugs you are witnessing in your nephew and free him of his lust for drugs. This is the same savior you yourself believe for salvation for doing the thing you hate as is mentioned in Romans 7.
Let's pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before you today, lifting up this situation in Jesus' mighty name. We pray for peace and harmony, we must seek first Your kingdom and Your righteousness, and all these things will be given to us as well. Your word and our experience show us that things do not always immediately change when we pray about them, but we are to continue to pray and not give up. We faithfully stand on Your word as You guide us and Your biblical principles and acknowledge them in this situation.
We pray for your nephew, dear Lord. We ask that You touch his heart and brings him to repentance. Deliver him from the bondage of addiction and lead him to become a productive member of society. We ask that he will honor biblical principles and seek Your guidance.
Lord, we also pray for this family. We ask that You grant them peace, wisdom, and strength to handle this situation. Guide them in setting boundaries that honor You and protect their well-being. Help them to love unconditionally, even in tough circumstances.
We also pray that in this situation may grow a Christian witness to both your nephew and the rest of your family through both your words and deeds. This we pray in Jesus Christ's name, Amen.
