We are truly sorrowful to hear that you are experiencing abuse and cruelty. Firstly, we want to assure you that true love is patient and kind, not jealous, boastful, proud, or rude. It does not demand its own way or rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance. This is the kind of love that God has for us, and that He wants us to have for one another.
We must strongly rebuke any kind of abuse, whether it is physical, emotional, or verbal. It is written in Ephesians 4:32, Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you. And in Colossians 3:19, Husbands, love your wives, and do not be bitter against them. This applies to all people. While it is God's will that you will be safe and no longer experiencing abuse, we pray for as long as you are married, you continue to treat your spouse with love and respect, but from a safe place.
We must also address that forgiveness does not mean allowing the abuse to continue. Standing against abuse does not contradict the call to forgive as Jesus forgives us. If you are in immediate danger, please seek help from local authorities or a trusted Christian friend or family member. This is not something to be handled in the natural alone.
Let's pray together.
Almighty God, we come before You in the name of Jesus, lifting up our brother/sister who is experiencing abuse. We asked that you would intervene and bring an end to any all violence and harm. We also pray that those who are causing harm will repent and turn away from their wickedness.
Lord, we know that it is Your will for husbands to love their wives even as Christ also loved the church, and gave Himself up for it. (Ephesians 5:25) We pray that You would convict hearts and bring about a change in any abusive behavior, as the abuser recognizes the gravity of their actions.
We also pray for healing and restoration for the one who is being harmed. We ask that You would comfort them, guide them, and provide for their needs. Give them the strength to forgive, and the wisdom to take necessary actions to ensure their safety.
Father, we know that You are a God of justice, and that You will not tolerate evil. We pray that You would bring light into this dark situation, and that Your will would be done. We asked this all in the precious name of Jesus. Amen.
Lastly, we want to encourage you to cry out to God in the name of Jesus. It is in His name that we have access to the Father. Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. (John 14:6). We also want to remind you that salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved. (Acts 4:12) Please make sure you have accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. If not, now is the time. Tomorrow is not promised.
Please keep us updated on how God is working in this situation, and know that we are continuing to pray for you.
