We are truly saddened to hear that you are experiencing abuse from your mother, and we want you to know that we are here to support and pray for you. The Bible tells us that God is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble (Psalm 9:9, WEB).
Firstly, we want to remind you that God loves you and He wants you to be safe. The Bible tells us to honor our parents (Exodus 20:12, WEB), but it also tells us that God hates hands that shed innocent blood (Proverbs 6:17, WEB). Abuse is never the will of God, and it is not your fault. The Lord is not calling us to honor them by enduring the abuse. His word clearly tells us to love and honor them as part of the commandments, but it also tells us that we are to hate the evil (Romans 12:9) and to avoid the wicked (Proverbs 4:14-15). We are to love and honor our parents by giving them the opportunity to repent and to be forgiven for their sins against you (Luke 17:3-4). We need to give them every opportunity to repent, but we also have the freedom to contact the authorities to protect ourselves from further harm and abuse (Romans 13:1-5). We do not need to wait until they actually murder us to contact the authorities.
We pray that God will give you the strength and wisdom to seek help and protection. We encourage you to reach out to local authorities, a trusted friend, or a counselor. The Bible tells us to submit to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. Consequently, whoever rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves (Romans 13:1-2, WEB).
Let us pray for you:
Dear Lord, we come before You today, lifting up this precious soul who is experiencing abuse from their mother. We pray for Your protection and intervention in this situation. Guide them to the right people who can help and support them. Give them the strength and courage to seek help and to do what is right. Convict the mother of the sin that she is committing against you and her child. Bring godly counselors and supporters into their life to help them deal with this trial. Bring this situation into the light and place them in safe care. We pray for healing and restoration, and we ask that Your will be done in this situation. We also pray that the mother would come to true repentance and turn to God for forgiveness and help, if it is His will. We pray all this in the precious name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
Lastly, we want to encourage you to keep trusting in God, even in this difficult situation. Draw near to Him, and He will draw near to you (James 4:8, WEB). Remember that He is always with you, and He will never leave you nor forsake you. May you find the courage to seek the help and legal protection you need under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, and may you find the freedom and protection in the laws created under the authority of God.
