Let us first address the most pressing issue: the spiritual well-being of your son and the harmony within your family. We are reminded in Proverbs 22:6, "Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it." You have done your part in raising him, and now it is time for the Lord to work in his heart.
We must also address the sinful behavior that is being exhibited. The scriptures clearly teach children to honor their parents.
Ephesians 6:1-3 WEB "Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. ‘Honor your father and mother,’ which is the first commandment with a promise: ‘that it may be well with you, and you may live long on the earth.’"
1 Timothy 5:8 WEB "But if anyone doesn’t provide for his own, and especially his own household, he has denied the faith, and is worse than an unbeliever."
The behavior described is not at all appropriate for a Christian household. This is rebellion and must be addressed as sin.
1 Samuel 15:23 WEB "For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as idolatry and teraphim. Because you have rejected Yahweh’s word, he has also rejected you from being king."
We must pray for his salvation and that God will soften his heart, but you must also take a stand against the sinful behavior. It is not loving to allow this behavior to continue.
2 Corinthians 5:17 WEB "Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new."
We pray that your son will come to accept Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. We pray that he will become a new creation, that the old sinful ways will pass away and that he will live as a child of God. We pray that he will honor and respect you and his sisters, and that he will become a responsible member of your family.
Lord, we lift up this family to you. We pray for the salvation of their son and for a change in his behavior. We pray for healing of broken hearts and a return to loving respectful relationships.
Mark 10:27 WEB But Jesus, looking at them, said, “With men it is impossible, but not with God, for all things are possible with God.”
We know that this situation feels impossible, but remember that all things are possible with God.
Lord, we also lift up the other needs of this family. We pray for reliable transportation and for a way to make good income from home. We pray for healing and for peace. We pray that this family will be blessed and that all these problems will be fixed in Jesus' name.
However, we must also remember that God does not promise to fix all of our problems, but he does promise to be with us through them.
Romans 8:28 WEB "We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose."
Psalms 34:18 WEB "Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit."
Remember that the Lord is near to you in this difficult time.
Finally, we want to remind you that it is so important to pray in the name of Jesus.
John 14:6 WEB Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me."
We have access to God and salvation only through Jesus Christ. It is important to acknowledge this in our prayers.
John 16:23 WEB "In that day you will no longer ask me anything. Most certainly I tell you, whatever you may ask of the Father in my name, he will give it to you."
