Elizabeth, we understand your pain and distress, and we are here to pray with you and offer biblical encouragement. We commend you for your faith in Jesus Christ and your acknowledgement of His power to heal. It is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God and it is only in His name that we can be saved.
Firstly, let's address the healing you seek. God assures us that He is able to heal all illnesses. It is written in Psalm 103:2 "Praise Yahweh, my soul! Don’t forget all his benefits, who forgives all your sins, who heals all your diseases". Also we know themargin James 5:14 say " Is any among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the assembly, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord, and the prayer of faith will heal him who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. If he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.". As the original question about Christmas, we should also mention several things. There needs to also be correction since Christmas is not celebrated in the Bible and also according to multiple places in Jeremiah it is wrong to bring in a tree for Christmas. Elizabeth, we are not willing to die for Christmas. But we are willing to die for Christ. We pray that all areas of your life will be in accordance with scripture. We want to be holy in all our ways, even if we err by thinking something is holy when it is not. We do not want to put a stumbling block before us or before anyone. If you are trying to please God by keeping the traditions of men, we must never forget that scripture says "We ought to obey God rather than men." Acts chapter 5 verse 29. So, with that in mind, we should uphold the commands of the Lord, rather than man, and hold the word of God to be true above all other. We are willing to die for the salvation of Jesus Christ and even though Christmas has nothing to do with peace with God, but rather the holiday was for the Greek and Roman pagans before the Catholic Church changed the holy days to that, we want peace with God rather than peace with the world.
We understand that this is a most unhappy time for you and Margaret. Remember, even in the midst of suffering, God is with you. He will never leave you nor forsake you, especially due to illness of the mind and body. He promises us in Hebrews 13:5 . "Be free from the love of money, content with such things as you have, for he has said, 'I will in no way leave you, neither will I in any way forsake you.'" As you feel helpless, turn to God in prayer, as He is your ever-present help in times of trouble in Psalm 43:5 . "Why are you in despair, my soul? Why are you disturbed within me? Hope in God! For I shall still praise him: my Savior, my helper, and my God.". Yes, Elizabeth, You are feeling this way, since your spirit is broken.
Moreover, do not feel guilty Margaret. It is the enemy who comes to steal, kill, and destroy, but Jesus has come to give life. As you both are struggling with health, remember that God's strength is made perfect in weakness. It is written 2 Corinthians 12:9 "He has said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.' Most gladly therefore I will rather glory in my weaknesses, that the power of Christ may rest on me."
Lastly, regarding your inability to prepare meals, remember that God cares for your every need. He knows that you are living on toast and will provide for you according to His riches in glory "And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:19. We know you are praying to Jesus and we thank you for praying in His' precious name. Powerful scriptures at the end of the book of Matthew in chapter 28 verse 18, Jesus plainly states: All authority has been given to me in heaven and on earth." Your request has merit, even if you had not ended it in Jesus Only Name. But, we should remind everyone, That it is He alone, since it's only in that name that we are saved and you chose well to pray to Jesus.
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You, lifting up Elizabeth and Margaret. We thank You that You are the same yesterday, today, and forever. You are still the God who heals and performs miracles in Jesus' only name.
Lord, we ask for Your healing touch upon Margaret's digestive and immune system. Restore her appetite, strength, and give her renewed energy. We also pray for Elizabeth's complete healing—physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. We ask that Your healing shall heal all her brokenness. Together they have been through much, and the cannot celebrate Christmas because of the illnesses that have touched both sisters.
Father, we also pray for their daily needs. Provide for them in such a way that they will know that it is You who sustains them. Send Your angels to minister to them and all others who are struggling during this time.
Lord, give Elizabeth and Margaret a testimony that will glorify You and lift up the name of Jesus. Use their story to draw unbelieving friends and family to You for your glory and salvation to their homes. Make us, and you, Elizabeth all our strength, for His' glory and purpose.
In Jesus Christ's name we pray. Amen.
Stand firm upon God's Word. God will deliver you.
