We are thrilled to hear that you are seeking godly friendships, and we commend you for recognizing the importance of surrounding yourself with people who will uplift and encourage you in your walk with Christ. It is wonderful that you are now in a marriage which is a godly covenant. The Bible emphasizes the significance of true friendship, as seen in Proverbs 17:17 WEB: "A friend loves at all times; and a brother is born for adversity."
Firstly, let us address the past hurts. It is painful to experience betrayal and manipulation from those we considered friends. Psalm 55:12-14 WEB reminds us, "For it was not an enemy who insulted me, then I could have endured it. Neither was it he who hated me who raised himself against me, then I would have hidden myself from him. But it was you, a man like my own self, my companion, and my familiar friend. We took sweet fellowship together. We walked in God's house with company."
However, it is important to forgive those who have wronged you, as Jesus taught in Matthew 6:14-15 WEB: "For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses."
Now, as you seek new friendships, pray for discernment and wisdom. James 1:5 WEB tells us, "But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of the giving God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach; and it will be given to him." Ask God to guide you to like-minded believers who will support and encourage you in your marriage and your walk with Christ.
Proverbs 13:20 WEB offers wise counsel: "He who walks with wise men will be wise, but a companion of fools will suffer harm." We will encourage you to seek friendships within your local church body or in Christian groups where you can find women who share your values and faith. Do not forget the importance of prayer in your marriage, and remember that even in a godly marriage, there can be conflict.
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up your daughter and her husband John, asking for Your guidance and wisdom as she seeks godly friendships. Heal her from past hurts and give her the grace to forgive those who have wronged her. Surround her with women who will love, support, and encourage her in her walk with You and in her marriage. Give her discernment to recognize true friends who will be a positive influence in her life.
We also pray for her marriage, that it will be strong and centered on You, Lord Jesus. We ask that You will continue to bless their union and use them for Your glory.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
Lastly, we want to remind you that it is only through Jesus Christ that we have access to God. Acts 4:12 WEB says "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved!"
You can accept this salvation by confessing your sins, turning from them, and trusting in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. Romans 10:9-10 WEB tells us, "that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart, one believes resulting in righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made resulting in salvation."
