We are truly sorry to hear about the situation you and your boyfriend are facing. Firstly, we want to remind you that God is faithful, and He cares about our struggles and difficulties. However, we want to encourage you to consider the biblical principles for relationships.
As believers, we are called to be unequally yoked with unbelievers (2 Corinthians 6:14 WEB). This means that our most intimate relationships, such as marriage or courtship, should be with fellow believers who share our faith and values. We should also be encouraging one another to live lives of holiness and obedience that honor God. The Bible tells us that husbands and wives should submit to one another in reverence for Christ (Ephesians 5:21 WEB).
In regards to the current situation, we should pray for God's will to be done and for His purposes to be fulfilled in your boyfriend's life. God can use this time for His glory and your boyfriend's good if he is willing to draw closer to God during this time of adversity.
If you read the Bible, you will notice that without a relationship with Jesus, we cannot receive salvation and eternal life. Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." (John 14:6 WEB). Thus we are praying for your boyfriend, but also for you, that you recognize Jesus as your Lord and Savior and encourage you to seek God's will in your relationship status.
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You today, lifting up this man who is currently in jail. We pray for his safety and protection. We also pray that You would use this time to draw him closer to You and if he is not saved, may this be a time of repentance. We pray that You would work in his heart and bring about the necessary changes in his life. We also pray that if this relationship is pleasing to you and according to your will, that you work in both their lives and direct them towards a godly marriage.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
May the Lord help you to trust in Him during this difficult time. Be anxious for nothing, but in everything, through prayer and petitions, make your requests known to God. The peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:6-7 WEB).
If your boyfriend is not saved, we hope that you take this opportunity to tell him about God's love and forgiveness that are available to him through faith in Jesus Christ. If you are not saved, we encourage you to make that decision today.
