We want to live for eternity in heaven. Jesus has promised all of us a mansion in glory so we must live a holy and pure life before Him and adore His holy name wherever we are. Give thanks unto the Lord, for this is good to do it and will make Gods heart so happy and full of joy.
Amen. We are called to live holy (set apart) lives and to love the Lord is to obey Him (esp. the commandment to love) but salvation does not/cannot come from obeying the laws and commandments. We must be very careful not to even insinuate it so as to not lead anyone astray. No one will be saved by works of the law. The only one who is truly righteous, holy and has been able to keep the entirety of the law is the Lord Jesus Christ. He did it for us so we could be saved by believing on Him, by putting our trust in Him. If we mix things (i.e. still trying to add our own law-keeping and trying to be righteous to His finished work we have not yet come to the point of being "poor in spirit" before Him and residues of pride remain in us). We don't have the ability nor the will to carry out what He is asking of us. Philippians 2:13 tells us that He works in us to will and to act in accordance with His pleasure. He does it for us, in us, through us once we are saved and works His life, His righteousness in us. The mystery here is that we are still commanded to seek for holy living but with the realization that we in and of ourselves cannot do it. Its Him in us. There is no glory in the flesh, no boasting before Him, He alone is able and He alone is worthy. All good things come from Him. Not Jesus + good works but Jesus alone. Its a constant struggle because our sin nature and the enemy will continue to tempt us to add things to what only Jesus can do and has done. Again, that does not mean to blow off the commandments....they reflect God's will for our lives but keeping them does not save us, only Jesus does.We want to live for eternity in heaven. My eyes are on Jesus alone. He is the Door to enter heaven. He clearly said to all of us. Without Me, you cannot do anything. Let us all come to Him, just as we are, be saved and filled with the power of the Holy Spirit and we shall be on our way to heaven.Amen.
