We understand that you are going through a difficult time with your relationship and that it is causing you depression. First, we want to remind you that God cares deeply for you and that His will for your life is perfect.
It is important that you trust in God and wait for his timing. However, waiting does not mean doing nothing. Trusting in God also means we follow His will and we know what His will is through scripture. 1 Thessalonians 4:3-5 WEB states: "For this is the will of God: your sanctification, that you abstain from sexual immorality, that each one of you know how to possess himself of his own vessel in sanctification and honor, not in the passion of lust, even as the Gentiles who do not know God." We are not saying that you are living in sexual immorality, but the scriptures remind us that boyfriend-girlfriend relationships should be a season of life that is fleeting and is a time to decide whether marriage is in your future. This relationship should be in courtship toward a goal of marriage.
In your situation we are not leaning one way or the other whether or not you should be together, but we do see that it is important they consider that the father and both families bless this relationship. The approval of the father is important and mentioned a number of times in the bible.
The approval of the father is a subject that is presented a number of times in one instance, a non-Israelite who is the child of a prostitute, shows us how this fatherly blessing principle works. In Joshua 2 WEB the city of Jericho is spared because Rahab hides a spy, who she confesses "for the LORD your God, He is God in heaven above, and in earth beneath." Then in Joshua 6:25 WEB we see that "Joshua saved Rahab the prostitute, her father's household, and all that she had..." We see here that Rahab's blessing is attached to her father's household and is part of her blessing.
The reason we bring this up is not to argue for or against your relationship but to highlight the importance of the father in this decision. It is important for the two of you to seek God, to be in fellowship with other believers and to get premarital counseling as well as to have the blessing of your father and family.
In all of this, we want to remind you that it is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God. John 14:6 WEB, "Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.'" If we are to pray to God it is through the name of Jesus. So let us pray for you.
Heavenly Father,
We come before You in the name of Jesus, lifting up our sister who is seeking Your will for her relationship. We pray that You guide her and Daniel, and that You reveal Your will to them clearly. If it is Your will for them to be together, we pray that You soften the hearts of their families and unite them in agreement. We also pray that you protect them from sexual immorality during this time of courtship.
We pray for our sister's depression, that You comfort her and give her peace. Help her to trust in You and Your timing. Let her believe that your plans are to help her, not harm her. Plans to give her a future and a hope.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
Be strong and courageous.
