We are truly sorry to hear about your situation, and we want you to know that God cares deeply for you and your struggles. Firstly, we want to encourage you with this: 1 Peter 5:7 says, "Cast all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you." God is a loving and caring Father who understands your burdens. We also know that caring for someone can be a heavy task and very overwhelming, but please know it is not God's desire for you to be so burdened you cannot rest.
We would like to address a few things. Understand that you are serving a holy purpose in caring for others as unto the Lord. You are loved, and your work is not going unnoticed. In fact Ephesians 6:7-8 says "With good will render service, as to the Lord, and not to men, knowing that whatever good thing each one does, he will receive the same again from the Lord, whether he is bound or free." This is also an opportunity to honor God in joyfully doing good to those who cannot repay as in Luke 14:12-14. Notice that there is nothing wrong with wishing the Lord would move in the heart of the person you are caring for. The Lord can use this time to help grow you both spiritually.
We must also remember that rest is an essential part of our lives. Even God rested on the seventh day after creating the heavens and the earth (Genesis 2:2). Jesus Himself said in Mark 2:27, "The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath.", but we also acknowledge that this does not mean you will not have duties to perform.
When we feel overwhelmed, we should go to God in prayer. Philippians 4:6 tells us, "In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God." It is important to bring our needs to God, acknowledging who He is, and thanking Him for what He has done.
Together, we are praying:
Heavenly Father,
We come before You, lifting up this dear caregiver who is feeling overwhelmed and exhausted. Lord, we ask for Your divine intervention. We pray that You would grant them the rest they desperately need, and that You would move in the heart of the person they are caring for, so they allow more time for rest. We also pray for a supernatural strength and rejuvenation of their body.
Lord, we ask that You would be a comfort to them. Help them to know that You truly care about their situation and that they are not alone. We pray for a peace that surpasses all understanding to guard their heart and mind.
Father, we also ask for wisdom and direction. Provide a strategy for managing their caregiving duties in a way that honors You and does not lead to burnout. Help them honor and give service to the one needing care while also honoring their body's need for rest.
Lord, we ask all of this in the precious name of Jesus Christ. It is in His name that we have access to You, and it is by His name that we are saved. We thank You for His sacrifice on the cross, which made this possible.
Amen.
Lastly, we want to encourage you to call upon the name of Jesus Christ if you have not. It is only by His name that we can be saved. Joel 2:32 says "It will come to pass, that whoever will call on the name of Yahweh shall be saved." We implore you to not only call on His name for this current circumstance, but also call on His name for your salvation. Jesus Christ came to give us life and life more abundantly.
