My name is Arinaitwe Ivan from Uganda, a born of kabale district at the shores of lake bunyonyi and this is my life story. I was born in 1993 to a house girl who used to work at my Aunt's place and my Father who was still a student got a chance of meeting my mum and ended up impregnating her and they gave birth to me. They had to chase her out of the home because she was pregnant and after she had given birth to me, like after I had reached 2years my father also passed on I hear that he had a disease connected to the heart and by that time here in Uganda, such treatment was very rare. Now my mum got stuck with the situation remember as a poor young girl who was just 14years old, she had to look for the means of survival and was forced to dump me and go hunt for a job. And I grew up in people's homes wherever I could find food, peace, shelter and education and that was my life till I met one old man who liked me to the extent of promising me education till I complete a course at college. I thanked God so much for this love. As I was still a kid and u know life of staying at home where you are not related, I could over work
I remember when I even tried all sorts of committing suicide several times and it could not work. One day I swallowed steel wire and it didn't work, I tried dry cells and still the same, I tried drowning in the lake still nothing. One day the most painful thing I tried was putting paraffin in my left ear I didn't sleep for the whole night, I was feeling as if fire was inside me, I cried till morning and since then I stopped trying killing myself. Now after I had reached in higher classes since I was very clever, I got sponsorship of staying in boarding school and atleast life became abit easier for me though I could be at school without pocket money or any requirements as a boarding student but I could remain thankful to God and I completed school in 2016. By then since I had felt like a mature man, I started hunting for a job and I finally got one and now I started earning and looking after my mum and my younger sister mum gave birth to when she met another man and she had some swellings in her uterus so she had to sacrifice it and she was operated and that was her last child in life on Earth. So I could work buying food for both my mum and my sister and again paying for her school fees till she finished senior four. Then in 2019, I felt like as the only son to my late father and mum, I had to marry and I start building up the family and the clan again as the African boy and I married a girl by the names of Nyirabwiza Juliet in April 2019 whom we shared the same stories as orphans and she accepted me the way I am. In November of the same year 2019, she gave birth to a baby girl through artificial birth and the baby survived for only 2days and passed on. Life bacame hard for us again as we were still in sorrows, corona virus also came in and we were put into lockdown. I lost everything I had including a job and I became a beggar again even up to now. Whenever a day passes, I drop tears and thank God that I have survived and at the moment, my wife refused family planning that no matter what the situation, that she must concieve again and she is now pregnant again. Hopefully, God will answer me one day. He makes me rich. I forget all this miserable life, look after my family and my fellow orphans. I believe God is watching over me, I know am covered and anytime I will get money through any donor, job or a business. I will be a boss, happy and a winner in Jesus' Name. Amen.
